SEATTLE – Opening: Washington Puget Sound, Washington North Coast and Washington South Coast Subareas Pacific halibut recreational fishery. Additional openings have been added to the Pacific halibut recreational fishing season in Washington’s Puget Sound and coastal subareas. The additional dates for the Puget Sound and North Coast subareas are 6-8, 13-15, 20-22, 27-29 August and 3-5, 10-12, 17-19, 24-26 September 2020. For the South Coast, the additional season dates are 6, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27, 30 August and 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27 September 2020. If catch and effort are lower than anticipated, NOAA Fisheries may announce additional fishing days for the South Coast on the NOAA Fisheries hotline, that may include 28 August, 4 and 11 September 2020.
Additional openings have been added to the Pacific halibut recreational season in the Columbia River subarea. The additional season dates for the all-depth fishery in the Columbia River subarea are 6, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27, 30 August and 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, September 2020. If catch and effort are lower than anticipated, NOAA Fisheries may announce additional fishing days for the Columbia River on the NOAA Fisheries hotline, that may include 28 August, 4 September, and 11 September 2020. For the nearshore fishery in the Columbia River subarea, the fishery will be open 10 August 2020, on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each week until the nearshore allocation is estimated to have been attained or 30 September 2020, whichever is earlier.
